Our client, a growing agri-food company, are currently recruiting for a Farm Research Technician. Role Overview: The Farm Research Technician (FRT) is a key role on the development of the Operational Research Platform within a growing food agribusiness company The FRT must work on multiple tasks from different projects to support the overall Operational Research Plan (ORP). The FRT tasks will be related with the area of mushrooms production from compost production to harvesting, pest and quality control. The projects in which the FRT will be involved are part of companys Research and Development Strategy. Role Deliverables: The deliverables of the FRT role are attached to their annual deliverables within assigned projects. Some of these deliverables have been agreed with other departments and approved by Research programme managers. These deliverables must be achieved according to planned timelines and budgets. Any diversions, no matter if big or small, from these originally planned must be informed to and approved by their line manager. Competencies to perform the role: The FRT is required to have excellent organisation skills and carry out their assigned tasks according to recognized standards and deadlines . The FRT is expected to juggle with several tasks effectively and efficiently . The FRT will be part of the newly developed Organisational Research Plan and is to communicate effectively with other members of the team and other members of the company. This communication must be done with integrity and respect and according to the company general code of conduct. The FRT must conduct research according to the general principles of good research based on honesty, cooperation and responsibility on accurate data acquisition and storage and managing appropriately any conflicts of interest. In particular a FRT must: Conduct experiments at a farm level and generate results for various projects. Work with rest of the R&D team to set up, carry out, record and analyse data from trials. Set up experiments and monitor on a day-to-day basis the experimental plots at a farm level. Actively contribute to determining the effects the environment has on crop yield, disease and growth patterns. Organise and analyse data from field experiments and prepared for reports. Experience and Qualifications. Qualifications. Possess a 3rd level qualification in Agronomy / horticulture or any other related science with farming and crop management. Mandatory. Experience. Good understanding/experience of agronomy, horticulture and crop/environmental sciences. It is desirable that the Farm technician has knowledge of principles of soil chemistry and. microbiology, environmental sampling. Knowledge of horticultural and range practices, safety procedures and greenhouse operations. Possess excellent computer skills including databases, excel, word. Possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as being team focused. Attention to detail and work. Other Significant Role Requirements: The FRT is expected to be motivated, collaborative, driven, goal orientated and systematic . The FRT must be flexible in terms of working hours to ensure deliverables are achieved on time. It is required that the FRT holds a driving license and is flexible to travel in order to achieve deliverables (i.e. sampling, delivery of samples, etc.).
