Role Overview: The R&D Project Manager is a key role on the development of the disease research area of the Compost, Casing and Microbiology Research Programme. The R&D Project Manager must manage multiple research projects. These projects are associated the quality of compost and casing. Role Deliverables: The deliverables of the R&D Project Manager role are attached to the deliverables of the projects that the R&D Project Manager is working on. These deliverables must be achieved according to planned timelines and budgets as much as possible. Any diversions from these originally planned must be informed to and approved by their line manager. Competencies to perform the role: General skills and satisfactory competencies in administration, communication and research are needed to perform the role adequately. An R&D Project Manager is required to have excellent organisation skills and carry out their assigned tasks on time and according to the relevant standard. The R&D Project Manager must supervise Senior and Junior Research Assistants. The R&D Project Manager is expected to communicate effectively with their line manager and other members of the company. This communication must be done with integrity and respect and according to the general code of conduct. The R&D Project Manager must conduct research according to the general principles of good research based on honesty, cooperation and responsibility on accurate data acquisition and storage and managing appropriately any conflicts of interest. In particular a R&D Project Manager must: Manage R&D projects. Develop and manage project plans, risk assessments. Liaison with internal and external stakeholders in order to complete research projects. Conduct data (statistical) analysis of results. Develop interim and final reports. Presentation of results to internal and external audiences. Experience and Qualifications. Qualifications. Possess a Ph.D qualification in a science related field, preferably Microbiology. Mandatory (experience in fungal disease pathology is preferable. 2 years of postdoctoral industrial experience. Mandatory. Experience. Proven record of good understanding/experience in fungal diseases. Possess excellent computer skills including databases, excel, word and statistical packages. Possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), excellent interpersonal and presentation skills as well as being team focused. Proven record of attention to detail and work with a sense of urgency yet have the ability to be impartial and objective. Other Significant Role Requirements: The R&D Project Manager is expected to be motivated, collaborative, driven, goal orientated and systematic / well organised. The R&D Project Manager must be flexible in terms of working hours to ensure deliverables are achieved on time. It is required to that an R&D Project Manager holds a driving license to travel in order to achieve deliverables (i.e. sampling, delivery of samples, etc.).
